Whilst people call for the death penalty in this country, which I can see lots of miscarriages of justice for, this actual event took place earlier in Georgia. I don't even know how they could charge Troy as no weapon, DNA evidence or surveillance footage was found to link him to the crime.

This is mainly why I don't agree with the death penalty. Very sad if he's telling the truth frown

Don't get me wrong, I don't agree with the fact that this man may have been innocent, and there was no hard evidence that linked him to the crime.

Although - his wording has to be questioned...in his final moments he said 'I was not RESPONSIBLE for his death' that doesnt state he had nothing to do with it. If I had nothing to do with it, I would say, 'I had nothing to do with the death of your brother/father' etc'. This to me is an unusual way of claiming his innocence.

However, getting past all that - I still agree with the death penalty for the likes of rapists and murderers that have hard evidence to prove they did the crime! I'm sorry but when you have had certain things hit your family you want justice to be served...and yes there are certain types of people I would string up in a heartbeat!

If I had the choice between life in prison or death I'd choose death, it's the easy way out I think!

Eye for an eye, I can't see any probs with that, especially when there is undeniable proof. If there is not any definitive proof then they should't be in that position. Can't understand how they deny it when they're caught at it, this is a weird one.

You really think death is the easy way out in this country....considering the inmates in this country have more entertainment in their life than I do!!!! Dont think so!

You're not wrong there bud. Just read that some lags are going to the Human Rights Grrrrs because they only have Sky 1 Sports and want Sky2 and Sky3 Sports as well. I can't afford it myself but I don't miss it either, poor buggers.

I know I couldn't believe that. They say it's a breach of their 'Human rights' the fact that they don't have more Sky Sports channels...it makes me sick!

Does that mean I should go to the Human rights about the fact that I don't get them???? No - why...because I haven't done anything wrong to go to prison. I think I might though...seems they get to live the life of riley...then...i will come out and claim I am phsycotic and get sickness benefit and sit on my arse all day n get everything paid for then too...

sounds like a plan!! Rather than working my arse off just to pay the debts I got into, through working in first flippin place!!

Yeah I get all that, I did my research dissertation on the perks of prison last year so I know exactly what goes on! But even with all that I would still rather end my life than live in the same four walls seeing the same people and doing the same things everyday without any chance of a job or a life or things I want to do. It's hard to say cos I suppose if I was the type of person to commit a crime warranting life in prison or death then I'd probably be the type of person without prospects etc.

Not always, some see "crime" as their career choice, and for some the "wages" are excellent, for others they get locked up for it (to paraphrase McVicar).

There are very few prisoners who will "never be released", and so prison is now their life, and despite all the things you hear about how easy it is, it's the thought of getting out that keeps people sane, not their xbox.

Prison is a harsh enviroment, bullying is rife and unlike the real world you have nowhere to hide from it, so reputation is everything and people will do whatever it takes to keep it.

Do you think that anyone will write a letter to their family saying that life inside is terrible, that they hate being there, that they worry about what everyone they love is doing and that they cry themselves to sleep sometimes when they think no one is looking.

Part of it is also to stop the family worrying, if they think that they're okay they won't be spending all their time scared for them... every crook loves his mum.

Perhaps you should look at the prison inspection reports, most prisons have a unacceptable levels of bullying if you read the reports, and I'm sure the prisons do their damnedest to hide it during their inspections.

If prison's that bad then can someone pleeeeeese explain to my why the shoits keep reoffending and going back in. Seems like a career choice to me. Let's be clear here too, I'm talking about the habitual crims not those who don't pay council tax etc.
