Looking for some fresh views on insulating a condensate pipe against freezing. The condensate falls from gable/attic height to bathroom hopper - a drop of approximately 15 foot.
The black plastic drain pipe taking the condensate to the hopper has frozen twice last winter. Not a happy event on Christmas Day!

i have some insulating stuff you can use brand new not used if you want.

Increase the diameter of the condensate pipe,much less chance of freezing.

I am looking for a long term solution but it has to look right on the outside wall as well. I know a lot of people had this problem last year and was hoping that a long-term solution would have been well considered by now.
I will have a look at plumbing forums.

I cut my pipe at both end and put quick release joints on the ends. Easy to take off when it freezes. Mine was insulated and it still froze, because the water only trickles out, quite a common problem
