This U3A branch has monthly walks and several activity groups such as winetasting, local history, music appreciation. They have regular theatre visits and days out.
I have found them a lively lot ( perhaps over eighty people at some meetings). It's a great way to make new friends and to start the week on a positive note.
U3As have the following aims and guiding principles:-
Aims.
1.To encourage and enable older people no longer in full-time paid employment to help each other to share their knowledge, skills, interests and experience. 2.To demonstrate the benefits and enjoyment to be gained and the new horizons to be discovered in learning throughout life. 3.To celebrate the capabilities and potential of older people and their value to society. 4.To make U3As accessible to all older people. 5.To encourage the establishment of U3As in every part of the country where conditions are suitable and to support and collaborate with them.
