Living on the Woodchurch i see this guy almost every day walking up and down outside Landican as i'm on my way to pick my wife up from work. He is called "THE GATEKEEPER" by some locals around here. He does appear to be looking for something on the floor as he walks. I hadn't hear'd the "ring" story before.
A friend of my wife's once, feeling sorry for him, stopped and gave him a pack of 20 fags as she thought he was always looking for second hand dog-ends to make his rolly's. His reply, in his own words was....
"F*** Off, i don't smoke!"

I have just been reading your post about local characters to my Husband who was born and bred in Neston.
he remembers these two well, and asked me to thank you for reminding him of his childhood hahaha. so thanks.

Remember both of them aswell, Maxi for the bench sitting near the old Ladbrokes and outside the Town Hall. He even lived at the bottom of Cottage Close iirc.

Also Gingers yard in Raby, remember him having a Series 1 Turbo for sale cheap as chips bt i was to young to buy it, his Daughter inherited the yard but unfortunatly passed away from alcohol problems. She started making the his old yard better but after her death her husband is carrying it on.

For people who don't know the place just think "next to the donkeys" who are in the next field lol.

I remember Tubby Royden from the late 70's early 80's. We used to see him around Mayor Park gates on Ellans Lane. I am sure he had a tatoo (inky dink) of a cross on his forehead and LOVE & HATE on his knuckles. He must have been mid 30's then (I was in my teens). Is he still alive? He used to chat and try to impress us with stories and feats of strength. He seemed an o.k guy, just think he was lonely.
