Hi,
I am seeking information on my 2nd great grandfather William Jones. Unfortunately, I don't have a huge amount of information...But here is what I have so far.

William Jones born about 1845 in Birkenhead. His father was John Jones, occupation shoemaker. Believe his mother's name was Martha?

William married Eliza Jane Martin in 1870 (Saint Mary,Bury,Lancashire England). They immigrated to Australia in 1875.

If any kind soul could please help me with any info on this Jones family it would be greatly appreciated.

I feel like I'm looking for a needle in a haystack with this Jones family.

1871 census, William Jones is living with his mum and father in law in Bury Lancashire.Obviously they emmigrated in 1875 so couldn't find anything more on them for any census returns later than that. William and Eliza had three children:
Edith Jones
Birth ?? Death 02 Aug 1956 in Carlton Rest Home, Wardell Road, Dulwich Hill, Sydney.

Arthur Jones
Birth 22 Jun 1888 in Redfern, NSW - Marriage in 1911 to Marriage to Ethel May Thompson Holy Trinity Church, Erskinville Death 31 Dec 1939 in Royal South Sydney Hospital, Waterloo.
They has 9 children the only details i can see on one of them is - Eric Albert Jones
Birth 19 Feb 1917 in Erskinville, Sydney Death 25 Sep 1983 in Prince Henry Hospital, Sydney

Eliza Ann Jones
Birth 1908 - Marriage to Arthur William Walker
Redfern, NSW

Can't seem to find anything with a matching mothers name but a William Jones born in Birkenhead in 1845 with the fathers name as John Jones & Ellen Jones. It might not be the right one though, It doesn't mention anything about John Jones being a shoe maker

Many thanks for going to the trouble of looking up the info on my Jones's. I have the 1871 census, showing William with his in-laws (I forgot to mention that in my post).
And I have a lot of Aussie info...My problem is finding William and his family prior to him getting married in 1870. His death certificate give his birth place as Birkenhead, but his marriage certificate only gives his age (25) occupation (Bricklayer) father John Jones (shoemaker) but not where he was born.
I had found a John & Martha Jones, son William John Jones in St Oswald that ticked all the boxes until it came to William John's birth details, he was born in Chester around 1854.

I have a folder full of Jones census, but none that match up 100%. It's so frustrating!! Wish it was as easy as "Who Do You Think You Are" make it look...Just one click of a key, and up pops the family! Personally, I have never been that luck.
