I know there's a Ghost Hunters thread on Wiki, but was wondering whether this might be an appropriate place to start collecting ghost stories from over the years - either eye witness or historical accounts - from the Wirral.

Can't offer anything personally (well, I could, but it's a bit of a flaky story), but my dad told me about a creature that was sighted in Birkenhead in various houses round Eastbourne/Westbourne Road in the late thirties or early forties, appearing in bedrooms as a sort of devil. He saw it and on another occasion a schoolfriend of his saw it too.

could a mod move this on to ghost hunters please!

I wonder if there's a way the thread could be linked to both forums? I'm interested in reading eg old newspaper reports or accounts in old books etc.

I've been reading Peter Ackroyd's The English Ghost which quotes a lot of old sightings in contemporary sources - but very few from the North West, and I can't believe that such a history rich area as the Wirral hasn't had its share of supernatural experiences!

The next thing we know we'll be putting old jokes in here, mainly mine, oh and reddragons.

my daughters boyfriend lives in one of those roads and she swears when she stays there she is aware of someone standing in the bedroom when there is no one there. shes been saying this for a couple of years it really freaks her out.

I'm currently living in the old Westbourne Hotel, Westbourne Rd. It's been converted to flats and I'm living in the roof area. I can't even begin to tell all the episodes that have happened in my flat but I can confirm a being walking around my bed (usually around 2:30am) and sometimes banging the bed (though very rare). I've never seen anything but know there is something here, My girlfriend on the other hand has different feelings where she feels anxious in one room, she has also heard footsteps in my hall and my bedroom, and isn't too happy about it. To put all the things in a small sentence, we've had, lights going on, mobile phones ringing without sim cards, footsteps, voices (young girl) loud bangs, cold chills. I can go on....

Imagine being in bed with no screen on and only the light from the street, you open your eyes and there is a figure standing at the end of your bed just staring down upon you.
A dark figure, you cannot see it's face and the room is cold, slowly your quilt is being pulled away from you.
You just want to put the light on but it's at the other side of the room and you carnt find the remote, then suddenly there's a very loud thumping noise coming from the next room but your the only one in.
Your paralyser with fear, what do you do?

You do what I did when it happened to me. Pull the covers over your head and shout go away. True! Just to clarify, no duvets or remotes then.
