CA18's FTW. Much more characterful little engine than the SR20 thats for sure!

Post up the results when you can with the wheel figure, not the "estimated flywheel" garb that rolling roads usually give. You want to be basing your initial power judgements on a reasonably fixed reference point.

In the not too distant future there may be a branch of my current employers (No, not Abbey Motorsport!) up here as I am working on a feasibility study now, that means - a true and accurate Dynapack reading and a Wirral specific JDM experienced tuner...

170bhp std Ste...

The CA certainly does have more character, it sounds nicer for a start raftl

The stock SRs seem to be built better from the factory though, Ive had loads of both engines, Ive had a few CA failures, and no SR failures.

Saying that, there are CAs that have been rebuilt and make just as much power as the SR with the right turbo.

Absolutely Stuy, the SR20 has that awful dull kind of boom to it, which I hate, whereas the little ol' CA's have a rasp, like they actually want to do what is asked of them.

The SR20's strength lay in its huge main and big end bearing journals, which far outsize the CA's weedy little RB style bearings, great for low frictional losses, not so good when badly tuned, any hint of det hammers the crap out of the bearing surfaces, and they don't tollerate it for long.

yeah love the way the ca's sound they seemto rev better aswell.

I only want 300 (max) from the little engine anyways anything above starts getting expensive.

stu's answered the bhp so i shall answer the colour.

I love them in grey they just look ace but when the body work needs attention (more than it does now lol) i'll prob go for a purple or a midnight blue

They do indeed, most likely attributed to its shorter stroke than the SR20.

Took the car to dyno demon to have a blast on there rollers

car made 239bhp at just 0.8 bar with 265 torques very happy with that need a hd stage 2 to sort the fuel ratio out and should see abit more power.
