Does anyone remember the council yard that was in Grove St New Ferry? it was next to Grove St School were the car park is now. i remember going to school and you had to be carefull crossing the entrance incase any bin wagons were coming out,i also remember my Nan telling me that there was a mortuary there at one time were they used to put the dead that were drowned in the river, she said this was when she was a child and they would go and look through the key hole to see if they could see any bodies!! i remember the yard and there was a door at the side right opposite the school railings and that was were the mortuary was.
does anyone have any pictures of the yard?
