Hey guys,
Im just looking for poeoples advice and past encounters with Arrowe Park Hospital.
My parter was involved in a crash on the M53 a few days ago. She was taken to Arrowe Park by Ambulance to AE. She sustained an impact injury from the steering wheel to her left hand. After 5 hours of waiting around she finally was seen by the doctor who said she had sprained her hand. No xrays were taken, and she was sent on her way.
After work she called into the Countess in Chester who did take xrays. One of her bones in the had broken right down the middle in two places and in fact the bone was sticking out of the palm of her hand.
She is now in a Plaster Cast. Im fumming about it, and think its total Negligence on behalf of ArrowePark Hospital.
Can i just say that 80% of the dealings ive had with Arrowepark I have been happy with and people do work hard there.

Fixing push bikes has a lot of responsibility attached to it. Lives could depend on it. The Quack, repeat QUACK, who gave John's partner a so-called diagnosis would be better suited to scrubbing the white lines of the M6 with a toothbrush !
The ultra c**k-up as described MUST be reported and given as much publicity as possible - for everyone's sake !

I have been in contact with the PAL's office who takes complaints. I need to put it in writing but christ knows what will happen. Prob a slap on the wrist ..... Hopfully not to hard in case it "sprains" sorry i mean break.....
Can i just say that my dad went to arrowe park with a bad back pains etc . They took blood tests and told him to stop drinking but he was T total. Pains got no better. This was march. He went back 4 weeks later with no improvment took more tests.......Cancer of the kidney. Took him down for the op to remove it and it had spread all inside. Sadly he passed away on the 24th June. He was only 28. I was 15 mths old.

Always ask for a second opinion if you are not happy. Sometimes I think the quicker they can get you out of the door at Arrowe Park the better. On the other hand I cannot complain about the times I have been treated there as they were really good.

Hello John I'm sorry to hear about your partner's accident and hope that she is now on the road to recovery. I think it is most important that you send a letter of complaint. First clearly state your complaint. Explain the difficulties that you faced and the way the misdiagnosis affected yourself and your partner. Then make clear what changes you would like to see as a result of your complaint. Keep a copy of the letter for your attention. If more people took the time to complain, the NHS would make constructive changes to the services which would benefit both patients and staff in the future. Hope this helps Regards

John
DO NOT delay Go see a proper solicitor about this They will guide you and your partner through the correct process Keep copies of ALL documentation Write notes about conversations / with whom/ when (a large diary is ideal and at this time of the year real cheap!)
PALS are fine BUT they are not independent

Hey and thanks for your replys. Quick update. Been in touch with the solicitors and put me right on a few things. They have said that I need to write a letter to the Cheif Executive of the hospital. She gave me all the address etc to write to ..... sounds like it happens a lot. She would not be able to make a claim unless the misdiagnosis was left say for 3 weeks and then was found to be broken, as the bone would not of healed properly. In all honesty we would not want to make a single penny on this its just i really dont want this to happen to any one else. Will keep you updated Thanks again guys

It's odd, I know it's a difficult job, but sometimes it seems as though doctors can't be arsed some of the time, like patients are a hinderance. I got sick of being fobbed off a couple of years ago, I was told 'Come back if it gets worse'.

Apart from the few bad apples in the barrel {poor doctors} and i dont mean poor by money standards. The other problem in the NHS has been the TARGET CULLTURE that was introduced by Blair and company.
