Lots of people loose everything bud, some more than others. It doesnt in anyway shape or form give him the right to pick up a gun and start shooting people. I am sympathetic towards him though but dont agree with his methods of dealing with it.

I read the letters (what has been released anyway) and have to say, he did it to himself. You can't blame his ex - if you don't love someone, you don't love them. Why should you have to stay with someone just because you're scared of what they will do? We've all been dumped and had our "hearts broken" because they were "the one" but we don't all turn into gun weilding killers. The majority of us get over it and walk away with our dignity intact. I lost everything but my way of getting back at people was to be happy and successful - and it hurts them more!!

HE reacted the way he did, nobody MADE him react that way. If anything, he reacted like a spoilt brat who didn't get what he wanted, effectively stamping his feet and throwing a tantrum. The only thing I don't agree with is if she did cheat on him. If you don't want to be with someone then leave - don't cheat; it's a $hit trick.

To threaten the hospital staff was out of order. If he hadn't shot her, then she wouldn't have been in hospital in the first place.

Blaming others is pathetic - people need to take responsibility for their own actions!!

The only bit I agree with him on is his views on chavs.

What I have just noticed is that when I have the page with the letters on, the tab at the top says "Raoul Moat Letter Anal" raftl It cuts off the rest of the word analysis.

I don't believe in capital punishment, at the same time i don't believe the police should put themselves at risk, they should of took the nutter out from 100 yards, not move in on him like they did, won't be missed.

During the course of the manhunt, Northumbria Police announced on 5 July that they had been warned by Durham Prison in the afternoon of Friday, 2 July, that Moat intended to seriously harm his girlfriend, with the Birtley shootings occuring in the early hours of Saturday, the next day. As a result, Temporary Chief Constable Sue Sim announced Northumbria Police would be voluntarily referring the case to the Independent Police Complaints Commission for investigation.

My condolences to the families that have been affected by this mans actions.
May I say that a man in the right state of mind would not do this. It is obvious that the balance of his mind had gone.

It makes you wonder if American police would have dealt with it any differently, maybe try and wound him to disarm.

I think the way it was handled was the best as there will be all sorts of inquiries for months to come.

I don't honestly think the Police could have won no matter which course of action they took. Either way, they'll be berrated for their actions by some people. After all, someone has to take the blame - and it can't possibly be Moat himself can it!!?!! smack

Did he shoot himself? Or did the police shoot him by proxy?

10 July 2010 01:48pm
Police fired a Taser stun gun during the dramatic last stand by crazed gunman Raoul Moat, Northumbria Police Temporary Chief Constable Sue Sim said.

Ms Sim said that during the six-hour stand-off at Rothbury, Northumbria, officers had been striving to persuade Moat to give himself up peacefully, adding: "During this time officers discharged Taser. However this did not prevent his death."

When a man chewing a shotgun barrel, with his finger on the triggers gets an electric shock, you'd expect him to jump and twitch a bit, would'nt you?

Whilst I don't agree with what he's done. He must have been feeling pretty desperate to go so off the rails.

Unless an understanding is gained about the motivations behind major crimes, they will keep being comitted.

It's easy to say, "lock them up and throw away the key" but unless an understand is gained we'll just end up with an ever expanding, expensive prison population.

To be honest I am, he would have only served a huge prision sentance at the cost of tax payers. Punishment suits the crime really.

The ones I feel for are his Kids, other family members, friends and especially the family of the police officer shot, the man who lost his life and the ex who was shot twice.

I have absolutely NO sympathy for Moat, to say his head had gone when he committed these dreadful crimes over numerous days is crap, he wasn't on Auto-Pilot, he had the mind to leave messages, decide his next move and make judgments, that's anger and not someone who has lost the plot.

What is incredible is that even though it wont cost us a trial and the cost of keeping him in a cell for life, we will still lose thousands in money for the IPCC to complete a report that will state, HE COMMITTED SUICIDE, The police made some mistakes which we hope will not be made again.

Going on to the IPCC what a load of bollocks that is, who made a complaint ? I know all police controversial matters are referred but why ? What do we ever learn apart from that they cost thousands of pounds. Should be called a review committee, how can someone complain when a nutter shoots himself ?

I am just relieved that no more innocent members of the public were hurt or worse by the idiot and the only respectful he done was take his own life, there never was any need for a trial so the families can have closure as everyone knows who done it.

RANT OVER
