Does anyone know who is in charge of emptying the bins in the park and general tidying up of the area?
Me and my family are happy about the new improved play area but theres smashed glass on the outside path leading down to Borough Road and litter just flying round the park?

Hi Kathryn I'm glad to see that someone else has noticed the eysore in the park. Having only recently moved to the area, I have watched the men re-building the play equipment, bit the bins have been neglected. They also need a doggy bin in there too. The only bin in the main area has been full of beer cans and bottles, not the average children's playground lunch box!!Perhaps those of us who use this park and their families could get together to help keep our area clean and tidy, and encourage kids and grown ups alike to use the bins, and then call on the council to empty them when needsby. I am happy to be part of a team to help keep our area a safe and happy one for all users of this area, and to show others that we really do care about our homes and environment, and to show the community spirit is still alive and kicking in The Woodlands area!! Best wishes Jess

This is nothing to do with street scene, I have been in touch today. You need to contact Leisure services 638 5608. The more people that get in touch, the more likely we are to get something done, so get dialling!! Best wishes Jess

I know on the opposite side of the park people are exercising their dogs there.
Not seen any mess as i havent ventured onto the grass.
Las weekend there was grown up men there near the football park drinking alochol around 5pm and in the small childrens area and guy lay on the grass with a half full bottle of red wine not even phased there was children playing just a few feet away.
Not a very good thing when you consider the money spent on the park for kids enjoyment.
Spoke to councillor last night who said he would get onto it. We'll see.

Ask for Roger Calvert, he runs the parks. Dave Cowling is the head of all the park and gardens.

Well how about us 'friendly dog owners getting onto the case fro a doggy bin? We use the park every day as we only live a few yards away, and it is certainly not the children drinking red wine, or the whiskey as can br seen by the ever increasing number of bottles etc that end up in the main area of the park. It would also be nice if some of the parents using the small play area encouraged their children to use the bins too, as this would be a help. As we live close by, who would be willing to form a friends of the Woodlands group so we can maintain the park to a community standard, and get the council in when they should be. We also need those dangerous benches replaced too, any willing volunteers? It would say a whole lot about the people in this community too!!
