Yes that is the Happy Valley Pub on the right of that photo and the building on the oposit corner just at the rear of the wagons tail gate was Inghams the gents outfitters. Stood in the doorway of Ignhams waiting for the bride on are first date 54 years ago.

wow thats brought back memories.
The pile of bricks with the shop in the background, I remember well. The bricks were Hardings, Atherton Hall and the Music Hall Pub. Corner of Oliver Street, Atherton Street.
One of the fellas who worked in the shop went to live in Thingwall.
Last time i saw him was in the 80's.

Would be good to see more pics.

Derek I have just been there and the book you asked about doesn't have photographs just small sketches and poems.

They had quite a few other titles on display in there but I didn't look at anything else though Derek, well worth a visit.

Used to go in the paper shop opposite the fire station every day,I lived in Lowther Street and went to the Charing Cross Methodist youth club, the shop used to get me the NME,Practical Wireless,Wireless World and various other monthly books, that picture brought back memories, when they were knocking the area down ,I was living in Liverpool and working in Scotland, missed out on them blowing up Oak and Eldon Gardens as I was working in the Middle East but did see it on the local News.
