Prison officer in court accused of smuggling drugs into Liverpool prisonA PRISON officer has appeared in court accused of smuggling drugs into Walton jail.
James Taylor, 43, has been charged with two counts of possession of cocaine with intent to supply, one count of possession of cannabis with intent to supply, and two counts of possession of a class C controlled drug.
Taylor, who was employed as a prison officer at HMP Liverpool at the time of the alleged offences, has also been charged with misconduct after he was arrested in a joint investigation Merseyside Police and the prison service.
He is due to appear before Liverpool City Magistrates Court on Monday.This week prison insiders revealed that mobile phones were regularly smuggled in and used by inmates to threaten their victims on Facebook. THE ECHO
