As a meat eater, the previous' series have raised ethical opinions and personal choice.
This current series 'fast food' has made me feel ill, tbh. No more cheapo sausage, for me. Discussion?!

Used to watch this series, does not change what I eat, anything in the supermarkets is full of shite, whether it is cheap or expensive. Unless you go the butchers, no matter how much you pay for sausages, there is going to be crap in them.

BBC Three also showed a programme about the turth about cheap food, and it was found to be practically the same as expensive food, but things like Sausages etc tended to contain less meat and more crap like connective tissue etc, which is totally harmless but somehow tastes shit nice lol.

Also, the brutal truth is, the world is over-populated, and demand for food already far outstrips supply. This is only going to get worse as the population increases and natural resources get lower, so crap, mass-produced junk is something we are just going to have to accept, people should stop worrying so much and learn to live with it.

If all food could be produced morally, ethically and healthily, the world would see such a shortage of food, the population would be deleted by at least 3/4.

Hmmm! Battery eggs another sore point for me-still buy them tho! Habit, availability, convienience cost and the ability to temporarily turn a blind eye when i 'dip me yolk'!

I don't think you are the only contradictory person by any means. In the ideal world, any animals we use in our food chain, we would all like to think their lives are subject to a high standard before they are slaughtered, however how many people are aware of what standard they are kept in and how could you find out conclusively anyway. Even if you do your best to check the package in the supermarkets and i doubt if many people can be bothered other than it says free range on eggs for example, what is one persons idea of free range is not necessarily an other persons. My idea of free range is that they come and go as they please, not just outside in a pen a few feet square.

Some South American Rugby team players ate their mates after surviving an aircrash in the mountains. Ergo, if you are hungry you will eat anything that's available, or starve to death of course.

It's affected them mentally apparently, poor buggers.
Food wise I've been on trips where we have nearly run out of supplies near the end and we had to cut the penicillin off stuff to make it at least look edible. Brit style Curry was supposedly invented to disguise the horrible taste of rotten meat, I can believe that wholeheartedly.

I adore animals and could never go back to eating meat, animal fats or wearing leather. Looking into animal wellfare when i was about 12 turned me into a veggie and i haven't looked back, that doesn't mean i stop others from eating meat but it does makes me vomitus when i think what we feed ourselves and kids with this processed crap.

Until recently Maccies chicken nuggets hardly had any chicken in it, it was leftovers from abattoirs with a pork/fat paste acting as a filler so makes me wonder how many other companies get away with doing the same on other products? Best bet is to make your own with your own cuts from the butcher.

As for animal wellfare before they face thier sad fate, its disgusting, we easily believe a bit propaganda telling us about free range treatment and thats enough to apease the guilt on eating meat, scratch the surface and its horrendous what they go through and how they die, not always straight away and are left to literally bleed to death in pain and scared. Its worth doing a bit of research if you're worried about this side of things and find out who are more humane.

Anyway i'm not ranting or trying to make anyone feel guilty, it's sometimes worth asking a veggie why they gave up meat.

The reality it cheap sausages have always been made of crap!

I think the program just highlights where the meat has come from - people just see a pork chop on a plate, not how the pig has grown up, and more shockingly, how it is slaughtered.

To eat meat, an animal must die, simples, I think the method they currently use is less distressing to the aminals than methods still used in other parts of the world, where they just cut their throats.

I've tried them quorn burgers, disgusting. Might as well eat the sawdust off the butchers floor. If you spend too much time thinking about the ifs and buts, whys and wherefors of everything you do then you might as well just go and top yourself. Get on with life and enjoy it, if you don't fancy something then don't do it. If you do fancy something, fill your boots.
