Rhys Jones' killer Sean Mercer stabs another inmate at Moorlands Young Offenders Institute




THE gang member who shot Liverpool schoolboy Rhys Jones stabbed another teenage killer in prison.

Sean Mercer, 18, was today in solitary confinement at Moorlands Young Offenders Institute, in Doncaster, after the vicious attack with a sharpened pair of tweezers.

It is believed Mercer, who has never shown any remorse for Rhys’ murder, had help from a fellow lag who held his victim down.

The shaven-headed Croxteth Crew member used the makeshift knife, held together with tape, to stab 19-year-old Jake Fahri during the brawl in the prison exercise yard this week.

Fahri was jailed for life and ordered to serve a minimum of 14 years behind bars after a petty argument led to him slashing the throat of former alter boy Jimmy Mizen in a London bakery in May last year.

Prison sources said guards thought they were breaking up a simple fist fight – not the first since Mercer has been locked up.

But they were shocked to find Fahri covered in blood with wounds close to his spine. He was taken to a hospital outside the prison to be stitched up by doctors.

It is being seen as an attempt by Mercer – a high school drop-out – to boost his so-called “hardman” reputation among other prisoners.

Mercer was sentenced to life with a minimum of 22 years behind bars for Rhys’ murder.

A Prison Service spokesman said: “On Monday November 2 a fight broke out between three prisoners at Moorlands YOI.

“Staff acted quickly to control the situation.

“One prisoner was taken to an outside hospital for treatment.”

South Yorkshire Police confirmed they were investigating the attack.

These sentencing people need to come back down from Planet Zog and get some tougher regimes out there so that these ... a. don't want to go in nick in the first place and b. after they've been in once it so tough they don't want to go back in.
