Being an air-cooled lump enthusiast, I just came across this little gem. Some of the more "mature" (ahem) folk on here might remember Goggomobiles from the 70's era. 0-60mph in half an hour downhill etc. Take a look at this guy's engineering skills. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TIdQFnUvCACan't see Mr Plod letting it loose on the roads here ! Did I see that right - did he machine his own gearbox  Nice engineering work gone in to that - cant listen to the sound though whilst Im in work

Not sure if it's a forward-reverse selector mechanism. Looks like a Voith torque converter/fluid flywheel. Maybe no gearbox needed. No clutch either.
My German is non-existant. Can anyone make out what he's saying when he's moving that selector lever ??

Hardly surprising. In a full on impact, the driver and passenger would be crushed by the engine.
