Motion blur is no longer relegated to the confines of your television thanks to the sculptures of artist Peter Jansen. Jansen created kinetic figures that appear to leave blurred movement trails. His works display a 'path through time' as athletes including runners, gymnasts, football players and karate experts are put through their paces. The 53-year-old Dutchman became interested in sculpting the human form in movement over two decades ago.

His reason for taking up sculpting stemmed from a curiosity about the total shape of a moving person during a period of time. When he first began exploring movement through sculpture, computer modelling was in its infancy so he had to work with simple outline sculptures...
