are there any photos available of the Palatine Road area before the estate was built in the 1950`s (I think) I`ve heard there was a farm there, but don`t know anything else

Well i can tell you that the guy who lives at no 70 built most of them. The estate started at the fields after sweenies on the corner with valley road. After that it was a track across the fields to a bridge (still a bridge and station). This was the way to get you to the boats at raby mere.
I have never seen a photo of the area as it was as i say just fields and not very photogenic.
This all comes from my mum but i remember finding some money in a tree root.
and we played on the railway banks that smelt of wee.
