M-WAY MADNESS: Driver lucky after yobs hurl brick at his windscreen on the M53

A DAD narrowly escaped death when teenage yobs lobbed a brick at his windscreen as he drove along the M53 at 70mph.

The man had just dropped off his 13-year-old son in Upton and was travelling back home to Bebington when his car was attacked.

“It was just after 10pm last Wednesday and so the light had pretty much gone,” said the dad, who has asked not to be named.

“As I approached junction three at Woodchurch I noticed some teenagers standing on the flyover bridge.

“I saw them drop something and the next thing there was an almighty smash and the windscreen shattered.

“Glass went everywhere. My dog was in the back seat but we both got covered.

“I was travelling in the inside lane and luckily I was able to pull up into the hard shoulder and call the police, who were there almost immediately.

“These idiots could quite easily have killed me. I was just lucky that the brick landed on the lower part and in the middle of the windscreen, the strongest part.”

A police spokesman confirmed: “Merseyside Police are invest-igating following an incident on the M53 motorway.

“At about 10.15pm on Wednesday, June 3, a brick was thrown from a motorway bridge by a number of youths, near to junction 3, striking the wind-screen of a passing Volkswagen Passat.

“The windscreen was broken by the brick but luckily no injury was caused. The driver of the vehicle was left very shaken following the incident.”

Neighbourhood Inspector Brian Griffiths said: “This was a completely irresponsible and dangerous act and Merseyside Police is treating this incident extremely seriously. We believe local youths may be responsible.

“Increased police patrols will be deployed in order to combat this dangerous behaviour.

“I would also like to remind parents to be aware of where their children are and what they are doing during the light nights of the summer.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident or can identify the youths involved is asked to contact Merseyside Police on 709 6010 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Something similar happened on the New Ferry bypass a few years ago, but it was a car battery that was dropped, and the driver was killed omg

Thankfully the driver was ok after this incident, but I wouldnt be surprised if those responsible caught where charged with attempted man slaughter!!

Little scrotes - what is going on with people!!!

I have a cameara at the ready in my car most of the time, when I see anyone loitering on bridges I try to get a picture - this is totally unacceptable - it is pre-empted murder. Nobody can believe a car can take a breezeblock into a windscreen on a motorway without it being likely to cause death.
