Well one of my Ramshorn snails died the other day, so only got one left now. Going to get another next week, but have only been able to find black ones locally... Want to get a couple of red ones as well though.
Does anyone know of anywhere that sells red Ramshorn snails, or even have any to sell?
Dunno, I can get em on eBay, just rather get them from a local breeder/dealer for obvious reasons.
Gotta keep the red ones seperated from the fish for the first month I believe, due to them carrying parasites... never had this problem with the black ones!
If you ask on TFF they will be able to point you in the right direction - there's a few posters who live on the Wirral. My worry about ebay would be that they have took them from ponds etc and not bred them in clean fresh water.
Yes, the Golden Apple ones. I had a friend who used to breed them many many years ago as food for fish (think it was puffer fish) along with mice etc for snake food

Had some Golden Apples in the tropical aquarium, lovely things. They will eat Ramshorn snails lol.
Tbh, its pretty easy to breed Ramshorn snails, so long as you give them the correct enviroment, they will breed profusely. So I would'nt worry too much about them being take from ponds, a lot of the sellers on eBay sell baby ones 1cm big, im just concerned about recieving them through the post really.
Haha, since you like Golden Apples, lets play spot the snail, here's a photo I took of the tropical tank a few months back, there is a Golden Apple snail in there somewhere, but where...
Usually only takes about 2weeks to end up with shed loads of them apparently I've heard tell of blue ones but never seen one. I'd love some but need a tank first
As for your lunchtime teaser

Got it haha, was hoping the darkness may have impaired your judgement, with them usually being bright and yellow haha.
Now id do a spot the snail in my Goldfish tank, but one is brown bread, and the other is on the front glass haha!
As for the Ramshorn snails breeding, I think they have to breed out of water, when I first got mine, they kept laying eggs, but my water is always high so they could never lay them out of the water. They have given up trying now. I too have never seen blue ones, found some on eBay lol, but they just look like regular black ones to me. Nobody else is selling them, so I question if they exist...
