Witnesses sought following confrontational home burglary at Wirral

A 76-YEAR-OLD man from Hoylake was left shaken after a confrontational burglary at his home.

Police have launched a witness appeal following the incident, which took place at around 4.30pm on Wednesday.

The victim was at home in Cable Road when a man broke in and confronted him.

A quantity of cash and a number of personal items including war medals, were stolen.

The man was uninjured but left extremely shaken by the incident.

The offender is described as a white man, around 20 years old, 5ft 8" tall with a slim to medium build.

He was clean shaven with a pale complexion. He was wearing a green coloured hooded top with a broad white horizontal stripe, jeans and trainers.

Officers believe this man was sighted in the West Kirby area before the incident.

Merseyside Police would urge anyone who witnessed this incident or has any information, to contact Birkenhead CID on 0151 777 2247 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

I'm a bit unsure of how ID cards would make a difference in this case.....
