ENTRIES are now being taken for this year’s Hoylake 10K Coastal fun run.

The event on Sunday, September 13, starts outside Hoylake Community Centre in Hoyle Road at 11am.

Runners will follow a course along the promenade, dropping off the Meols embankment for a short distance, through the car park by Leasowe Lighthouse and back onto the embankment towards Leasowe Castle Hotel.

At the 5k marker, runners return back along the same route. All proceeds will go towards the club’s Soft Play Sensory Resource and last year’s event raised more than £5,000.

Sponsoring this year’s event is Meols-based vet Rob McNulty, a regular runner of the 10k.

Race secretary Carla Williams told the Globe: "Rob has taken part in the event for several years and sponsored us once before with t-shirts in 2006.

"We have also managed to get a sponsor for our run numbers which is Runners Sport in New Ferry, which is run by Julie Ebbrell."

Application forms are available from Carla on 625 9505, by emailing [email protected] or writing to 69 Fulton Avenue, Newton, West Kirby, Wirral, CH48 6EY.

Entry is £7 - make cheques payable to Wednesday Special Needs Club. The closing date for postal entries is Friday, September 4.

Late entries will be accepted on the day, if the race limit of 600 has not been achieved. For more details log onto www.wsnc.co.uk

Does that mean I'd have to go out running?
It would be an incentive to get fit.

Yes, but the other clue is in the word "fun" which suggests that it is not imperative that you actually run. I was just thinking that I could probably walk 6 miles. Run it?? No chance!! raftl
