Someone asked in an earlier post whether we could have a forum to upload and see various maps of Wirral
Is this possible to do like the maps Mark posted earlier that he'd done as segments and stitched together

various maps of different areas and dates

That is a lot of work for Mark I think. I have tried scanning maps in sections and then stitching them together. My efforts were c**p compared to the job Mark did with them.

My original suggestion was simply that as well as any map scans/ pics being in the original post I think it would be a good idea to have a "sticky" topic at the top of (say) History or UE in which links to all maps were posted BY THE ORIGINATOR (that takes the work load of admins). Important would be the TITLE of the post in the sticky because that would be the way folk would find the map they were looking for.

how were you stitching them snod?

I don't mind stitching them together, i think it took about 30 mins with that lats big one, but that was because it was the first time around, i think ive worked out the best way now.

My reply to a Maps Forum would be this.

Maps and there post to be posted in this forum "Now and then"
then you can link to those topics like a index,
But if we made a topic and called it Old wirral maps and
from there you could add links and descriptions to maps
in other threads and topics.

I can see what you mean about a forum, but if you think
about it, i can be done in 1 dedicated post too
Because then you scroll through 1 post which is quicker
than lots of topics.
