THIS is the man who posed as a police officer and a cabbie before raping two women in his car.
Detectives are hunting the fiend responsible for the sex attacks in isolated spots of Liverpool and Wirral.
Both victims were just 19.
The rapes, near the city centre waterfront and in Birkenhead, happened two years apart.
But forensic tests show the same man raped both women. The first attack happened as the young victim left a Tuebrook Pub
just after midnight on Sunday, October 25, 2004.
Assaulted by a group of girls she staggered down the road as a silver Honda sports car stopped.
The driver flashed what appeared to be a Merseyside Police badge.
But instead of driving her to Canning Place HQ he drive to Jamaica Street and raped her.
The man wore a thick bracelet and smelt strongly of Calvin Klein aftershave.
The Honda car had a grey dashboard and a CD player with six presets. His “badge” was in a leather wallet with a Sheriff-style emblem.
The second rape happened between midnight and 1am on December 27.
The victim left the Myrtle Pub
, in Old Bidston Road, Birkenhead, when she saw what appeared to be a taxi in the car park.
She got in but once they reached an isolated spot the man raped her.
The woman fled leaving one shoe behind in the silver car. Clothing from both victims was analysed and matching DNA proved the same man was responsible - but his details were not on the police database.
Detective Superintendent Colin Leeman said:
“Our warning is ongoing - we will find the person responsible. But we need the public’s help.”
Anyone with information about either of the rapes, or anyone who can help identify the attacker, should contact police on 0151 777 8659 or the Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555 111 THE ECHO
