Pop paedophile Gary Glitter has ditched his legal battle to dodge signing the sex offenders’ register.

The 64-year-old sicko tried to escape the safeguard after returning to the UK from a three-year prison sentence in Vietnam.

His legal appeal had been due to take place on February 19, and he was expected to appear in person.

But his solicitor has withdrawn the appeal in a letter to Harrow Crown Crown.

The message claimed Glitter – real name Paul Gadd – would not get a fair trial because of the media interest.

The move means the former glam rock star’s name and personal details will remain on file for life. He will have to tell police if he moves or wants to travel abroad for more than two days.

In September Glitter was banned for six months from travelling to France and Spain. The ban was issued by Ashford Magistrates’ Court and lasts until the end of March.

Police can apply for the order if they fear a paedophile could harm children in other countries.

Glitter served 29 months in Vietnam for molesting two girls aged 10 and 11. He was deported in August following his release and flew to Thailand and Hong Kong. But both countries refused him entry and he finally returned to Britain.

Glitter had tried to fight signing the sex offenders’ register saying his Vietnam conviction was a “travesty of justice”.

Why is he worried about signing the sex offender register? Everyone knows he's a dangerous paedophile surely???
