DETECTIVES from the British Transport Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted robbery on board a train travelling between Moreton and Meols last month.
The incident occurred around 9.55pm on Wednesday, December 3 on the 9.37 Liverpool to West Kirby service.
A man who boarded the train at Moreton threatened a male passenger with violence and demanded money from him.
When the train pulled into Meols, the offender assaulted the victim and left the train before threatening another male outside the train on the stairway and overpass on the station.
Detective Sergeant Graham Martland said: “There would have been other people on the train and at Meols station when the incident was taking place and, if they have not already spoken to police about what they saw, I would appeal to them to contact us as they are potential witnesses.
“This was a very frightening experience for the victim and we are working to find the person responsible.”
Witnesses should contact BTP on 0800 40 50 40, quoting incident number 588 of December 3 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
