Many, if not all of you by now know that I am very passionate when it comes to our Armed Forces. What you may or may not know is that I, with a fair few others around the country, make up parcels for our men and women who are serving abroad.

Now I know things are tight for everyone, and that some of you may not agree with the Wars that our troops are involved in, but would it be possible for anyone to donate even one item to be sent off? I have put a list of suggested items in this post.

I don't care who doesn't want to - I understand as it is your perogative not to and I will not judge!

Think of it as a Harvest Festival Box for Adults thumbsup

Suggested Parcel Items

Toiletries
Toothpaste
Toothbrushes
Shampoo
Conditioner
Shower Gel
Roll on Deodorant
Razors
Shaving Gel
Talcum Powder
Foot Powder
Cotton Buds
Wet/Moist Wipes
Tissues
Lip Salve
Travel Wash

Savoury Snacks
Pringles
Crisps
Nuts
Pork Scratchings
Savoury Rice
Noodles
Oatcakes
Crackers
Stock Cubes
Packet Soups
Sweet Snacks
Fruit/Cereal Bars
Fruit Flakes
Dried Fruit
Shortbread
Small Cakes (please take into consideration use by dates)
Biscuits - mini packs that can fit in pockets are always good.
Small Tins Fruit - like the ones you give kids, the ones in jelly etc.
Packets Custard, Whip etc
Evaporated Milk
Condensed Milk

Confectionery
Travel sweets
Toffee
Fudge
Mars Bars, etc
Chocolate Raisins
Chocolate Peanuts
Energy Sweets
Love Hearts, etc
Fruit Pastilles, etc
Lollipops
Mints
Chewing Gum

Clothing
Socks

Recreation
Paperback Books
Magazines - FHM, Zoo but NOT top shelf as they are restricted and will be taken out.
Puzzle Books
Sport Magazines
Playing Cards
Pens
Pencils
Notebooks
Sketch Books
Batteries

Pharmacy
Imodium
Rennie
Paracetamol
Plasters
Insect Repellant
Sun Screen

Misc
Boot Laces
Blank Greetings Cards - Birthday, Christmas, Wedding Anniversary etc.

This list is not definitive – it’s to give you an indication of suitable items. The key is to things small and light as they are packed into shoeboxes which are weight and size restricted. Travel/individual sizes are ideal rather than family/bulk packs. Variety is important too – it’s much nicer to receive a box filled with lots of different items, rather than one full of say toiletry items. And please remember, these are morale boosting parcels – the lads and lassies are being well fed and watered!

Please note aerosols, alcohol, and lighters are strictly prohibited.

A small card will go in each box stating that it is from the inmates of WikiWirral, complete with the web addy so the chances are you will have a few posts from grateful Service Members.

Many Thanks to you all for reading this post!

Oh, and just in case any of you work in a shoe shop - we also need shoeboxes - either adult 5-8 or kids boxes too.

Cheers Guys and Girls

Jaci

Good for you, Jaci. I sent a few parcels when my son was serving in Bosnia & Iraq.
Unless I've missed it, I can't see how to contribute. I myself am some distance away, so can't physically help, but if you PM me, I'll happily send you a fiver.

Cheers, Chris.

I send them roughly once a month - they get them for the duration of their tour, wherever that may be. We do special ones for christmas though.

We do them for all the Armed Forces, just seems to be a bigger uptake by the Army.

Any help is gratefully received though smile Thank You!

might be ableto get shoe boxes if needed. I think I read something that they won't accept parcels anymore unless adressed to a person ??

Shoe boxes will come in handy for next months' lot as it's the christmas boxes. You're right about them having to be addressed to a serving personnel Wheels - we have a list of 50 named personnel who wait eagerly on these boxes so no worries on that (paganjay sked me to post this on her behalf as she cannot post at the moment)

A bit of shameless bumping on this post smile

It's coming up to the "xmas run" so any bits gratefully received. The only thing different this year is that I'm after dog treats too for the K9 units grin

My list is expanding, but I am also waiting on a few Regiments that I don't have named service personnel in but we know the name of the CO's.

Many thanks
