Does not happen with spuds (too messy to dig 'em up) but in the past I have lost a load of onions that had been lifted to dry off. Hope they choked on 'em

5 Precepts of Buddhism seem appropriate. Refrain from taking life. Refrain from taking that which is not given. Refrain from misconduct. Refrain from lying. Refrain from intoxicants which lead to loss of mindfulness
So, where is this allotment? I remember the ones near me, during the war. It's now the Mount estate. I also remember some which seem to be still there; between Cavendish Drive, Princes Boulevard & Bebington Rd. I used to be sent there to buy whatever was in season. http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v...hx=0&phy=0&phscl=1&encType=1
Its down off bridal road in bromborough Chris. But those in that map look like big plots!
As for the smoke thing, the spooky bit is the bloke who's plot that is just started working on it again after losing his wife last year!
We've has some issues with the brass taps being stolen at the alotments, and the odd scal breaking in (spiky wooden fence all the way around and locked gate, not fort knox tho) and trashing a few plots. If i catch 'em them may meet my spade = fertilizer for my veg
think i already told u this guy but the same vandals attack the nursery too.. damaging the childrens play equiptment, stealing taps.. and last year breaking ALOT of the windows too grr buggers
If anyone's looking for an allotment, there may be one here. http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&FORM=LMLTCP&cp=53.366072~-3.024738&style=h&lvl=17&tilt=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000&scene=29157941&phx=0&phy=0&phscl=1&encType=1
This sign is on the Borough Rd. gate, between Cavendish Drive & Princes Boulevard. Thought the phone No. might be useful.
Chris.... That sign looks as if it's a "proper" enamelled sign. Obviously not all that old. Didn't think there were any firms still making enamelled signs.... they take skill to make ... and last far too long!

Maybe it's just glossy, nasty plastic ??
Not sure about that, Mike. Probably plastic; think I can see signs of flexion, top right corner, but could just be reflection.
