It's easy Matt. The people higher up have even less of a clue than the IT managers do This is so true; one lad I know works for the NHS as an IT technician and hasnt even got a clue how to use Windows, nevermind fix a problem, and the scary thing is, he has held down his job for a couple of years... His answer to everything is, someone else will sort out what he fooks up!!

I think I scare our IT man at work.... we have had three in 2 years, the last two quit.. but I will admit its a difficult task..... I mean coming up with the solution: "turn it off and on again" must be quite hard.

The new versions of Windows will help revolutionise mobile phones and run the desk of the future, which would have a touch surface display allowing users to call up items using their hands. I don't like the sound of that. I just want it to be stable, and fast to work through. Can't they make a 'morons' version with all the fancy crap and then a normal version that just loads up in seconds (bypassing voice recognition, touch screen, Windows Aero, 'Are you sure you want install this, as you are a computer illiterate cretin, and can't be trusted' etc).

Ditto. To be fair though, they did create a fully working version of Windows once, it was called Windows 2000. They eventually managed to replicate this with XP after about 4 years of trying, but unfortunatly Microsoft thinks everyone is Morons, and no longer sells either of the normal versions. I always said the reason Microsoft will never release Windows 2000 to the mainstream public (instead they pushed that other load of junk AKA Me) because they know that nobody would ever want to change. I believe its out of order that Microsoft get to force users to take Windows with machines nowadays, they supplier should list the price without Windows and with Windows, and there should be a clear difference based upon the OEM cost of Windows. The EU should also act in the consumers interests and force them to offer Windows XP as an alternative/downgrade to Vista.

From some things I've been reading, you may be hoping in vain. See the following: Clicky The first reviews of Microsoft's (MSFT) Windows 7 are coming in, and for Windows fans hoping Microsoft would fix the problems that have plagued the unpopular Vista, it doesn't look good. InfoWorld's Randall Kennedy analyzes the next Windows (an early release) and skewers the product.
Windows 7 is "lipstick on a pig," he charges, the same old slow Vista with a cosmetic makeover

Sounds like the boys at microsoft just don't learn anymore... But hey that's what happens when you nick most of your ideas and end up driving away competition - eventually you run out of people to nick good ideas off.

You can get one like that Station. It's called Linux lol It's a bit harder to learn advanced features at the start but when you do it's faster and much more stable.
If it's stupid and it works, it ain't stupid.
