who on here owns there own business, or would like to?
reason being is that i had a bit of a brainstorm last night of setting my own up, mainly at weekends so i dont have to leave my current job.
what ive been thinking of doing is something along the lines of delivery services. Not Dominos or Royal Mail type of delivery, but delivery of goods for particular companies.
has anyone had experience in using companies like this? what type of prices dp they charge ie- £ per mile or £ per load?
thanks

I run my own in my spare time (won't pay the bills yet!)
So are you basically on about becoming a small courrier service or what?
Most companies who need things delivering already have either in house facilities or use courriers and pay up to a certain weight to a certain country then £X per additional Kg

sounds like what most catalogue companies do, chiccys auntie and uncle deliver and collect parcels for next, they only get a set amount per parcel and have to do a lot to make anything as they use their own car/fuel.

was thinking of doin delivery for companies who lose man hours by using there own staff. for instance my mate works for a joiners in birkenhead and they take huge orders from schools, hospitals and big buildings that are being built/re-furbed. once the work has been done they load everything into their works van an at least 2 employees go on the journey. they drive all over the country basically losing the equivilant of 2 staff 4 the qmount of hours on the road.
what i'm getting at is the company pay me a set amount per mile (say £1) that would include insurance, petrol etc, so that they can basically save on the man hours theyre losing!
