The Clown cost £35,000. Money well spent? I think not.
Here's a quote from the Wirral Globe June 2001
A spokesperson for New Wallasey Regeneration says: "The theme was felt to reflect the
History of the resort in its heyday at the beginning of the last century when mime artists used to entertain visitors to New Brighton along the promenade."
The funding for Pierrot will come from New Wallasey and the European Union's Konver II programme - cash which the EU has specifically granted for the project and that cannot be used for another purpose.
Ms Keane says: "A lot of people visit New Brighton every weekend and a lot of effort is being put into making it a place worth visiting.
"Let's give New Brighton our support for once instead of stifling this latest attempt to put the town on the leisure map."
It's nice to see the crowds of people coming to see the clown and the huge difference its made to New Brighton since its arrival !!! I wonder which member of the Council it represents and would Ms Keane like it in her road.
Scrap It now its a joke
