ESPN president George Bodenheimer has said the network is "absolutely interested" in bidding for the rights to broadcast Premier League matches in 2009.
Speaking to the FT, Bodenheimer called the Premiership rights package a "fabulous property". ESPN is planning to rebrand NASN under the ESPN moniker and will widen its remit to include more UK-relevant sports.
Last year, NASN's current distribution partner Setanta picked up two rights packages for live coverage of Premiership matches. Id rather have ESPN carrying Premiership football then the cheap and tacky Setanta crap! Having said that though, id prefer it if they were all just back on Sky Sports! All this new EU forced fair distribution deal is doing is costing the consumer more and more money! Digital Spy Report
