I am unsure about the taxi office. It was on the corner of King Street/Seabank Road, the part that runs to St Lucia Rd (goes around the back of the chippie etc.)But it was on the next block towards the Royale. I was about13/14 at the time so we are looking at 1970/71.

Can't remember it being a toy shop Bezzy , I asked my mum & she remembers it as an electrical shop selling radios & spares , valves etc . This was mid '60's when we lived in Park Avenue .

About 1960, the taxi company was Arrow Taxis & was above the old furniture shop. I don't remember any nightclub. I used to run a government surplus type radio shop on the corner of King St & St. Lucia Rd. (Now boarded up)We later moved across the road & had the right hand shop of what is now Seashells Day Nursery.

Hi, You mentioned Neville Close, we lived in number 20,on one side were the Kelly's, the other the Layfields, we moved there in early 1968,I moved in out in October to get married,my parents stayed there till 84. We lived in Claughton Road, opposite our house was a newsagent, the music Hall on one corner, the Bakers on the other. It was a big change no shops locally, and a long walk to the bus,and no pubs.

My younger sister and I used to go the Plaza Cinema on Borough Road on Sat.mornings (back in the '50's) for the 'Auntie Gladys' Club - used to sing along the 'bouncing ball'. I think there was also an organ there that came up out of the pit. Just along the road was the Kingsland Ballroom. Across the street was a cafe whose name escapes me now - they had a big jukebox I think and the tedddy boys used to stand outside there in their 'beetle crusher' shoes.
