Exif Settings Included = Camera Settings.

I wanted to take a picture of the Moon and see it as
we see it, with the shades and craters etc..

But it wasn't as easy as i thought it would be.
Every Picture i took would bleach out the moon without any
features etc.. It got frustrating so i decided to crack this nut.

Now after Playing i know its down to the ISO
and a suprisingly fast shutter speed on a tripod
using the auto timer to take the shot.

This picture was just on a Night Setting no zoom.
Fuji FinePix S6500fd
Auto = Preset
4sec @ f/3.7
ISO 200
Focal Length 17mm

I moved position and zoomed in a little more with a manual setting.
As i mentioned even with max zoom it would bleach out to a white disc.
Fuji FinePix S6500fd
Manual
4sec @ f/3.9
ISO 200
Focal Length 29mm

Now were getting somewhere, with the ISO upped to 1600 and the shutter speed faster again.
I did try an iso @ 3200 but it became very grainy.
Fuji FinePix S6500fd
Manual
1/1200 sec @ f/4
ISO 1600
Focal Length 36.1mm

Ive cropped this in photo shop to the best zoom, and the best picture
with the new Shutter Speed faster again.

The same picture as above just maxed out with the zoom
in photoshop, but i can see craters wink
An intresting session i say.

Most normal camera's only have low-ISO Mark, just because it has a lower ISO doesnt mean it is girly. Bridge camera's demand high ISO's otherwise there would be no point in them... what would be the point in a semi-DSLR if all it could manage was 200 or 400 ISO?

But there are some compact camera's on the market now, with ISO's of upto 6400, so it makes the S6500 look shit in comparison if all ye want is a high ISO.

wink

Exactly, I quite like your camera Joe, for the price you paid its an absolute bargain, and if I didnt have mine and.or wanted a good compact, your's would certainly be one id be looking at.

Low ISO or not, as you say it suit's your needs perfectly. The S6500 with it's high ISO and all, is still pretty shit at capturing the moon at stock anyway, so your not missing out on anything lol.

smile
