straight away i can see a big problem, the galve steel won't help neither will the sl@g joe.

if ya need any help mate ill come down sometime mate when yo do weld tho you will get a black shinny surface on top this is called [censored] it is important to knock this off with a chipping hammer if your welding over it or the weld will be completely ship and come off mate.

I'm alright for help matey, just after a bit of advice, I'd just prefer to learn myself Thanks anyway

have you a wire brush joe? after hitting the sla,g off, give is a good brush to make sure it is all off.

yeah, I wire brush everything beforehand aswell

so what exactly am I hitting off? just a thin black layer?

yeah mate when ya weld and ya look at it it looks shit just get a hammer and tap it and youll see a a black layer of shit come off {watch ya eyes}

the layer is their to keep the weld from getting any contamination ie oxygen,
