You will get the Idea..

Thermal cooling solution = Fan
Data entry solution = Keyboard

There are thousands of them...usually found on corporate websites (Sorry should be "Web Marketing Solutions") raftl

Lets make up a list and choose the best.. thumbsup

"Solution Selling Legacy
Solution Selling® is the industry standard for sales execution process. Used by more than 600,000 sales professionals worldwide, Solution Selling provides the foundation of process and practices that can make "eagles" out of average sales performers.

Originally developed in the 1980's, Solution Selling has evolved considerably to keep pace with the latest economic trends and business conditions. In general, the pace of decision-making in customers' buying cycles has accelerated, driven by improved communications and global competition. Since Solution Selling was first developed, the world has seen the introduction of the Internet, the World Wide Web, advanced multi-channel sales strategies, greatly improved telecommunications and computing productivity tools, and emerging international markets.

The Future of Solution Selling®
SPI continues to research the most effective selling practices in the world, and we are committed to constantly refining and improving the content contained in Solution Selling, and throughout our entire portfolio of sales performance improvement offerings."

The word solutions is taken out of context by many companies nowadays of course, but if its used correctly, then it means a company offering solutions to problems/needs which can not be defined with one single word.

For example, data storage solutions, when used on a website like Ebuyer of PC World, would be appropriate because they dont just off hard drives, but they offer a range of data storage devices to meet customers needs.

I use the word solutions on the slogan for one of my internet brands, and I use it is for two reasons:

1. The services I offer cannot be defined under one name, there is 5 services that all differ from each other in one way or another and come under different service names, so it is appropriate to be used.

2. I would have rather used the word services, as they are solutions in a way, but not strictly like solutions in the same way that Ebuyer offer "data storage solutions" etc... But as the word services makes up part of the official brand name, i needed an alternative word to services.

So yes, I agree, there are a lot of companies which overstate things by labelling them "solutions", but there is also a lot of scenario's where the word can be used within an appropriate manner.

I understand the frustration with the over-use of the word though.

Another word that is over-used nowadays is the word legend, but ill leave that as its off topic lol.

smile

Most of the time, the people that offer so called "solutions" can't find a solution to your problem!
