This topic is long but worthy of its reading.
It shows the investigation, the planning and the discoveries,
along the way. Pictures from inside the tunnels, video's also
and the locations of the entrances. This topic is forever expanding
as we find more information. We hope you enjoy this topic
as we have researching and discovering inside those tunnels.

Earlier, I came across a random site with a discussion about Bidston Hill Underground tunnels which I never knew even existed.

So I looked into it a bit more....

More tunnels exisit by MSF Ford in Hind Street, Birkenhead. (leading under Market Street to Woodside)

"If you go to the junction of Worcester Road and Boundary Road there is an electric substation. There is a manhole cover about 10ft from the door which has been grassed over now. That had a ladder leading down a ventilation shaft into the tunnels. The tunnels go under the Proudman Oceanographic place and for some distance towards the other side of Bidston Hill."

It goes on to say that they are all sealed up now.

So if it's sealed up, there is probably little chance of us being able to get in there now?

Well I found it, took about 20 mins to find lol. I got some good photos and video.

It is possibly breachable, but not by knocking it through, it would take an act of god to knock it through.

For someone to try, they would need balls, big balls, and mine arnt big enough to try lol.

I will post photos after I sorted em (as usual I took a fair few lol, although not too many around the entrance I must admit).

Right well here are the photos:

This is the entrance to the tunnels, as you can see it is quite heavily cemented, more on that later. The girder in the front is actually to hold the cement, I read on 28 days later that one person thought it was the top of the entrance, I dont think so, the whole cutting into the rock is the entrance imho.

This is the hole that "may" be breachable. I think this is the only chance anyone really has of getting in because the cement is extremely well done.

I had a closer view of the hole, and the door can be seen. I kinda think the black bit is the door.

This is a shot to give you some ideal of how well cemented is it. I have placed my phone (Siemens S25, so its not dead small or anything) on the cement to give some perspective. I did try a cola bottle but it wouldnt stay stood up.

Another shot to give some perspective on the cementing. Again my phone is in the shot, almost in the centre of the shot. You can see clearly how much cement they used.

This shot is standing on top of the cement looking downwards, again my phone is in the photo for perspective. Again, you can see they have used a massive amount of cement. You may also notice that there is a steel girder within the concrete, in reference to my point earlier that the girder in front is to hold the cement in place.

The hole with a Coca Cola bottle in the way to give some perspective of the size of the hole.

Another shot with the Coca Cola bottle to give perspective against the size of the hole. You can see that a normal sized person would be able to squeeze through, its actually quite big. Whoever started this hole certainly intended to break through.

Another shot from further back, it looks a bit of a mess on photos but its not so scrappy when you are there.

Another shot of the whole thing, this time from the right angle, you can see the hole is quite big again.

thumbsup top work there matty, nicely done vid too, its just such a shame that rather than let the public investigate wirrals wat-time History, the council/goverment past and present would rather keep it all hidden, do they not realise the revenue they could make from this, like with the warships/sub that were at the four bridges site...? well done on ur investigation mate.. clap
