Virgin and Sky will not go head-to-head in court for another year, meaning cable viewers could be without the likes of Sky One for some time to come.
Chancellor of the high court Andrew Morritt confirmed a timetable that will see a pre-trial hearing taking place in November, a further exchange of documents in March 2008, followed by a trial several months later. A judgment would not likely be reached until 2009.
A number of Sky's channels - including Sky One, Sky News and Sky Sports News - were dropped from the Virgin lineup in March after both parties failed to agree terms for a new carriage contract. Virgin is expected to hit back tomorrow (Thursday) by confirming plans to launch its own sports news channel in partnership with Setanta Sports. I rekon they will probably reach an amicable agreement by then... depends how many customers are leaving Virgin as a result of losing the Sky channels. Digital Spy Report

I agree that Sky is a better service, had Nynex/CWC/NTL for almost 10 years before I got Sky, and even my mum commented on how good Sky was compared to cable. The EPG alone was just like a whole new world, not to mention the fact the service just "worked" without fuss. Having said that though, this year they have been making strides, the Liberate software on their boxes has finally been coded right and runs smooth and fast on almost all boxes for instance, plus the launch of their V+ service. I still prefer Sky and their EPG etc, got me 8Mbps for a fiver a month lol and dont like the fact VM will be bought a PE group soon, so im staying put!!
