Up to 200 teenagers from across the country trashed a family house while the parents were away after their daughter advertised the bash on the MySpace internet site, police said today.

Revellers caused £20,000 of damage to the £230,000 property in a quiet cul-de-sac on a private development in Chipchase Court, Woodstone, Houghton-le-Spring, Co Durham.

The devastated parents have now moved out of their home to have it professionally cleaned after it was left filthy with vomit and urine.

According to reports, the invitation for the Easter Monday party was posted on the popular site as a "Skins Unofficial Party" - a reference to the controversial Channel 4 series which featured scenes where a teenage get-together got out of hand.

Worried neighbours repeatedly called police as hordes of drunken yobs caused chaos from 10.30pm on the Bank Holiday to 3am on Tuesday.

The sixth former's parents returned that morning to find a trail of devastation, which police are now investigating.

It has been alleged that party-goers urinated on the mother's wedding dress and children's clothes; stole cash and jewellery; ripped light fittings from the ceiling by swinging on them; stubbed out cigarettes on the carpet; vomited throughout the house; barricaded the back door to prevent neighbours from intervening and dyed Fred Perry clothes belonging the host's brother because they "didn't like charvas" (the North East dialect for chavs).

A Durham Police spokesman said: "The girl's parents were away, she invited people around and it spiralled out of her control.

"It was a private house party and we've been told it was advertised on MySpace.

"We had a large number of complaints from neighbours and at various points we had to intervene."

Officers left the house when the party-goers turned the music down, only to be called back later when the party resumed to full effect.

On another occasion they found scores of youngsters roaming the modern estate, which until Monday's events had not seen any police activity of any note.

"There were concerns from residents that it might lead to damage, drunkenness and rowdy behaviour," the spokesman said.

Officers even provided some youngsters with the phone numbers for local taxi firms, to get them off the streets.

The force spokesman said many youngsters were not local - with two reportedly travelling from London for the bash - and had no way to get home.

He said the force made no arrests on the night but will attempt to trace all the party-goers while investigating the allegations of criminal damage.

It was understood the teenage host was lying low today, but has not been reported missing by her family.

Police are trying to track down revellers after a family home was trashed during a party thrown by a home-alone teenager.

More than 200 people ran amok through the house in County Durham while Rachael Bell's parents Alan and Elaine were away on an Easter break.

Around £20,000 worth of damage was caused during the party which the 17-year-old publicised on her MySpace website page.

Rachael has apologised to her devastated parents who came back from a caravan holiday after a call from a worried neighbour and branded the culprits "worse than animals".

However, she is staying with a friend and is too scared to meet them face to face. She said: "I totally regret it. It was just supposed to be a party with a few friends and it turned into a complete nightmare. I'm sorry mam.

"It was so surreal - it still seems surreal. You just can't imagine anything like it happening. I still haven't properly slept, I just keep waking up and thinking about what happened."

The sixth-form student said classmates hacked into her MySpace internet site and invited teenagers from across the country to an all-night party in the quiet suburban street.

She added: "It was just supposed to be a small gathering with about 60 people - my friends are DJs and said they'd play. The party wasn't supposed to start until 10 o'clock, but at half nine we saw people pulling up in cars.

"We didn't recognise them and didn't know what was going on so we bolted the door - but they just started climbing through the window."

She added that she is planning on staying with her friend's mother indefinitely and is dreading returning to school.

Every room in the detached house was ransacked and the girl's mother's wedding dress had been taken from a wardrobe and urinated on.

Mrs Bell, 48, said: "I told her that I did not want any kids or drink in the house while I was away and I'm furious. It's worse than a burglary, I can't believe it. "

She continued: "Whoever has come in here are worse than animals; it's like house rape. They've been sick everywhere, urinated and trashed the house.

"It will take a month for it to be professionally cleaned and we are having to stay in temporary accommodation."

The shamed sixth-form student is understood to be staying with a friend while the dust settles.

The party had appeared on the website labelled Easter Monday Bash Skins Unofficial Party - a reference to the controversial Channel 4 series which featured scenes where a teenage get-together got out of hand.

A spokesman for Durham Police said: "There has been a formal complaint from the owners of criminal damage to the interior and fixtures and fittings.

"Inquiries are under way and we plan to speak in due course to as many of the party-goers as we can."
