Just trying to find the amount of interest at the moment for a track day at Rallydrive Blyton International Rally School & Driving Centre at Doncaster, Yorkshire.
The proposed date would be Saturday 18th November 2006 and would require a minimum of 10 cars. The price would be a maximum of £53 inc vat per car but if we can get more than 20 cars then the price would be £35 a car. There would need to be a £20 deposit paid to me when we know if we can get the minimum numbers required so I can reserve the track. Please let me know how many are interested in this event.
Here's a link to some footage of my Prelude going round the track last year: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7HGutXWnj54
Rallydrive is 10 miles south of Scnuthorpe just outside the village of Blyton, and is sited on a disused WWII airfield in the middle of a cornfield. As it is not a pure racing track in the mould of Donnington or Oulton, the surface is a little rough and there are some potholes (imagine TopGears track). The circuit itself has been set up to challenge the balance and handling of the professional racing and rally teams whom use it as a test facility, and so provides plenty of fun on its 1 1/4 mile lap. Please note that there is NO noise limit!
The venue will be ours for the whole day from our arrival at (hopefully ) 8.30am to sometime around 4.30pm, allowing plenty of track time for everybody. Most people do 3-6 laps (5-10 minutes) and then come off for a breather so everyone should get as much time as they want.
Facilities are somewhat spartan so it's recommended that you bring your own refreshments, picnic chairs & tables and prepare for any bad weather we may have.
This is a non-profit event organised purely for fun and enjoyment of all performance car owners, and the costs are to be shared equally and hence the price cannot be finalised until the day when we know exactly how many are there. As an example, if we have...
10 cars it will be £53
20 cars it will be £35,
25 cars is £30,
30 cars £25.
These prices include VAT
Additional drivers to each car shall be £10 each.
Spectators shall be charged at £5 each (under 16's free), pay on day. Maximum 35 cars for the track
NO OVERTAKING. Any measurement of abilitiy will be done with a stopwatch . Off track everyone MUST observe a strict 5 mph limit.
Helmets must be worn by anyone in a vehicle on track, driver or passenger, so if you have your own it is advised you bring it, otherwise Rallydrive have a selection of helmets to lend us for the day.
People are often a bit scared of trackdays, and rightly so. Motorsport is dangerous and should be treated with all relevant safety precautions and huge amounts of common sense. At this event we aim to have fun with our cars but in as much safety as possible. This is why we limit the number of cars on track and insist on NO OVERTAKING. Whereas on other trackdays it is a free-for-all with people often loosing it and collecting others in their mistake, we make sure you have your own space to explore your car and your potential to the limits of your and its ability, or to whatever level you wish, safe in your own space on track. There is no pressure to set or maintain speeds which may be uncomfortable to you or dangerous. There's plenty of time available throughout the whole day so you can build your confidence and speed progressively. Great fun at a fantastic price Added to Calendar
