I believe the old vauxhall engines are really easy (in comparison) to change the clutch as you just remove a plate from underneath the gearbox and it only takes an hour or so to do.

If you get alot of spare time, have an engine hoist, mechanic mates, a Haynes manual and some mechanical know how the i would suggest doing it yourself.

I once done my AX clutch, had the 2 front wheels of, car was on bricks, had the engine resting on a crappy car jack which was also on bricks and 2 of us trying to push the gear box back in place, all good fun. Took a full day to do between 2 of us and cost £30ish.

Second time we learnt our lesson and got an engine hoist to change one in an escort GTI.

For the sake of £30-£50 labour charges, it is well worth you taking it to the Garage though

I hazzard a guess approx £150 or so to have the clutch replaced on that vehicle.

Obviously cheaper if you take the job on yourself but if your not compatent then dont attempt it yourself.

Why not check out our Sponsers page as there is some garages listed there who can provide you with an acurate quotation.
