Lastnite Red_cing_sporting wrote his car off

Also lastnite on the way to Asda with a few others by 2month old clutch got fried meaning I lost everygear and was stranded.
Least to say i was extremly p*ssed off but put a happy face on as ya do otherwise pent up rage would have took over.
I was stuck in NewFerry with Meesh, Dilburt and Aggy so a phonecall to are CW callout service (aka TonyMk2) and he was out to help.
Story doesnt end there cos to get to my towing eye the front bumper had to come off - while this was happening some fool drivin past thought he was cool but lost it and crashed goin round a corner.

Eventually I got the beast towed home and am now looking round for an uprated clutch, am 90% certain the 1.8 clutch will fit but I want something better.

Watch this space

Thanx to those that helped

From what I heard about Cings car some1 pulled out on him and write the 2 cars off, the other car was a blue Punto and that was hit side-one and the Cing was head on colision.

The muppet was jus some random guy that crashed in New Ferry - Didnt see what car

I thought lastnite if it was under warrenty, ill have 2 dig out the invoice if i'v still got it - But if it is covered i wudnt want another 1 as a replacement as i need an up-rated one to cope.

Scooby can u get hold of Up-rated clutches with a Traders discount? Just after some prices really

Tar

Oh and Thanx AX_125 its apreciated

If the clutch isnt a ford item then itll be ****. I went thru a crappy side road garage clutch in 9 months and less than 10k miles. Ive now got a ford one and that should last well over 60k. When u get the new clutch fitted get em to check your gearbox seals cos u may be gettin oil onto ur clutch forcing the plates to just spin on eachother. Did u feel it goin or did it just go! mine was goin for about 3 months before it just packed up and spun at anything more than half throttle.I got stranded in newbo and had to be towed by me m8.Luckily my kit wasnt on back then cos mine doesnt come off very easily with the 4 foggys and loadsa attachments all over the mountings. Good luck with gettin it back on the road cheaply m8

think think think There are much better quality clutches on the after-market than what ford will supply you with, And at a much more competitave price also. The back street garage you took your car to would have probably fitted just a clutch plate or cover and even possibly a used one at that. (Its common practice with clutch/gearbox or back street garages) Lets face it, your not going to remove the gearbox to check they have fitted a new one are you, Its not like getting a tyre fitted where you can obviously see what has been replaced.

Dazza, A.D.L. Are one of the market leaders for quality aftermarket parts but i am not sure if they will make a clutch for yours as they tend to specialise in japanease cars allot.</b>

Competition Paddle Clutch Kit

[Linked Image]

Quote
Clutch plate with unique metal button configuration and thinner disc reduce the overall weight. (Inertia is 30% lower than the genuine part). In competition racing where 1/1000th of a second may determine the difference between winning and losing, quick shifting response offered by this series is the ultimate benefit. Suitable for on road racing that requires good shift response.
This is combined with a matched cover that achieves a 40% increase in clamping load over the Genuine OEM part thus allowing /enabling a higher torque transmitting capacity. Ductile pressure plates are used for all kits giving a high burst strength.
Or this maybe think

Twin Plate Clutch Kit (Incl Flywheel)

[Linked Image]

Quote
Street / Race Twin Plate Clutch is designed for high torque capacity with "reasonable" streetability. The friction facing material is cerametallic to bundle the abuse of highly modified engines. Again, with all cerametallic clutch systems, some chatter should be expected on low rpm startups. Featuring a single spring damper for both discs, this clutch design has strap lift and drive for both the pressure plate and the intermediate plate. A patented system evenly lifts both the main pressure plate and the intermediate plate providing a "clean" release for steetability. The EXEDY Street / Race Twin Plate Clutch also includes a lightweight billet chrome moly steel flywheel for maximum performance.

Spoke to my contact @ FEOC and he's 100% certain the reason the clutch went was b'cos it wasnt aligned proply.
The standard Ford clutch can take just over 200bhp and he has recomended use that b'cos theres no point gettin an up-rated one as he did and it made no difference.

On a separate note his Escort Cossie will be running 380-400bhp by Jan so ill get some pics wink

Was it put in with the gearbox in the car?
I have a Black Diamond, I was going to go for the twin-plate, just for the sake of having one. Great clutch though.
