This could be a very long story, but ill cut it short
IS there a way to drain/refill the IB5 fitted to my 1.8 zetec. Apparently their "sealed for life" but i dont understand how that can be.
I was wondering why oil never pissed out of the box when i pulled the driveshafts when switching the engines round, thought i was empty (on both boxes) but hearing this "sealed for life" stuff is making me think no oil came out because there is a seal to stop it coming out from there.dont u need to drain oil to get the box off? or would the oil stay in doing that aswell. crazy ford people

Only quickly read this topic.
Yes theres a 8mm allenket on the box, remove this. When refilling you only need to fill it to this level i.e when it starts pouring back out screw the drainplug back in.

eh? if oil isn't coming out the drive shaft holes then it would seem that your running on low oil, but as you said you have filled it to the hole level. bit of a simple question but did you have the car on level ground when you filled it up?
always looking for those bigger bunches of bananas!

yeah the ground was level. Obviously when i took the shafts out something must have been holdin the oil in (seals,or maybe the huuge amount of CV joint grease in there)
