Out again today for a few hours. Managed to get some good finds.

2 buckles, loads of shrapnel, 2 old lead weights, couple of musket shots, a watch winder and a couple of buttons. Oh and and early Queen Victoria farthing.

Now the better bits! I nice hallmarked Heswall pin/badge, also has the letter “C” above and below, possibly cricket club? Not sure but if you know let me know 😊 and what I’ve been told is a trade weight, with a picture of the Liver bird and “V R” either side, possibly for Victoria Regina?

I’ve also posted my friends best find today, a 1697 William 3rd silver coin! It’s lovely!

Great finds. You're doing well. Oh I'd have been so excited if I'd have uncovered that badge and the silver sixpence , pity the sixpence is not yours Ex, would have been a good one for the collection eh. Keep going mate and thanks for sharing with us , I love looking at what you've found..

The Heswall badge has me really flummoxed, nobody has any recollection of cricket in Heswall, the only possible I can think of is that Caldy Cricket club started just after this and is in Thurstaston which was sort of co-joined/named with Heswall so that might have something to do with it (ok, clutching at straws).

The other thought from a few people at the same time is that it may be more likely a silver badge was a cycling club, a few of them were around before the 1920s when it came a more formalised nationally.

Haha thanks DD. I’ve had a good search of the net and can’t come up with anything. The hallmarks put it at 1920 so maybe your right with the cycling club aspect. I’d love to know the origin of it though. It just remains a mystery at the moment ☹️

To me the badge looks quite feminine, something a lady would wear? Hope you find out what it is be very interesting to know.

My other thoughts are Croquet Club, croquet was very active on the Wirral pre-WW1, the Hotel Victoria (Heswall) had a croquet lawn as did Thornton Manor and Hooton Park. It was also fairly common for tennis clubs to have croquet.

William III coin must be pretty rare. He was crowned in 1689 and died in 1702.. Now that is something of interest. He also came to Wirral . Very nice finds.

Thanks granny. It’s the six pence. It is rare in this condition, they usually come up very worn!

Thanks for that, can't find anything about it so far, whether it was called Heswall, Gayton or Dawstone CC, it might even be a school cricket ground I suppose.

One of Paul McCartney's houses was on that plot iirc, think he sold it on a while ago.
