Only allowed in London on Red Routes I believe. This pic is off Borough Road in Birkenhead showing what type of traffic is allowed. Buses, pushbikes and taxis only.
Cars taking a left over a bus lane would not expect a Motorbike to be there, its bad enough on the road. Proven that it is more dangerous to allow the Motorbikers in bus lanes. Glasgow gave it a trial run, and stopped it.
Pity really,as it would be safer, than bike filtering which is legal, you say, cars taking a left would'nt expect a motorbike, what about a pushbike, small, no engine noise, and a bell for warning other drivers,i know what i'd rather be on. Thanks for posting the pic btw
a pushbike is arguably more agile than a motorbike and i think they can use the bus lane so that they have a lane width to themselves which is a LOT safer than mingling with regular traffic on a two-lane road. And i think the "cars turning left" thing is just something us cyclists need to be aware of.
