The conservatory was our music room for the 'orchestra' lessons, back in my era, 1945-50, at St. Anselm's. I'd like to see photos of the cellars where we had the school dinners, dished out from insulated containers cooked somewhere else. Even now, certain 'stew' smells take me right back to those post-war days! Thanks for the memories.
I was at St Anselm's Redcourt Junior School approx. 1953-5. Every day we used to walk in file over to the "big school" to have dinners in that basement. I remember the smell of the food and still catch it in mass catering places.
I remember the tabioca pudding with jam in the middle which was known as "Frogspawn with Christ's Blood". Not very reverent for a Catholic School. I hated that but I liked their ginger pudding - sometimes you could get seconds of that. I think I stuck with school dinner for a while but then took sandwiches.
