Heard on the news earlier that New Brighton lifeboat station has been shut down for "several weeks" due to a training dispute with volunteer crew members, the service is expected to be covered by Hoylake station and lifeguards, it is a bad time for this to happen with the school holidays beginning bringing lots of visitors to New Brighton.

Poor management have brought this about.
Not listening to the concerns of the crew members that go to sea.
Sad time not only for those stacked but for the community of New Brighton.

I don't know what the full story is, only what was said on the news, but as you say a sad time indeed, just at one of the busiest times of the year, I hope the decision to shut down doesn't cost someones life.

And it could put a strain on the neighbouring stations

I think this particular station has had problems before, resulting in a mass exodus of volunteers.

Haven't they recently acquired a new chairman who caused strife on Wirral Borough Council's beach patrol because of his lack of man management skills and personality?

I undertook a survey today about local/ national gov't public awareness campaigns.

I became aware of this campaign from R.N.L.I #RespectTheWater

http://www.respectthewater.com

Well worth a look, especially now in the school summer holidays.

They always wanted to remain a charity and never wanted Government interference, but the Government might give a donation I suppose.

I didn't know that granny. Why would they want to remain charity based?

Really not too sure, apart from they don't want anyone else calling the tune. Government funding could lead to all sorts of things, and I think they prefer to do it their own way.

I also thought there was an issue about the replacement of lifeguards on the beaches earlier this year with young and inexperienced, presumably by the council, as the council employ them. Something similar to you Beethoven.
