Thanks for kind words. I shall compile all this weeks poems in one post after tomorrow at 2pm. for voting purposes. It will make it easier to find them all.

Maybe you would all like a week or two breather after this one, let me know as I don't want to overdo it.

Who was St. Valentine and do you want to see his finger ?



As romance beckons for lovers on Valentine's Day, there is the rare chance to see part of the saint "himself". A relic - purported to be a fragment of bone from St Valentine's finger - is on display at a church in Coventry. But what is it doing there?

Those hoping for a macabre thrill will be disappointed. This is no shrivelled finger on a cushion. The shard of bone is sealed inside a reliquary, an ornate case about 4 in (10 cm) tall.

But church warden Ann Tuesley hopes people will flock to a special Sunday Mass, which she described as "perfect for couples who are getting engaged".

According to the Catholic Encyclopaedia, at least three Saint Valentines are mentioned in the early martyrologies under the date of 14 February. One is described as a priest in Rome, another as a Bishop of Interamna (now Terni in Italy) and the other lived and died in Africa. The one we think of today is probably the Roman priest - and it is purported to be his finger which is in Coventry.

The basic story is one of a priest imprisoned for marrying sweethearts in secret in defiance of the emperor, who believed unmarried soldiers fought better, as they were unfettered by worry by what would happen to their wives or families if they died.

While in prison, Valentine healed the jailer's blind daughter and they became friends, with her visiting him. On the day of his execution, the saint left a note for the girl signed 'Your Valentine'.

Thinking of You


Here's a short verse,
I hope not perverse.
It's sent from our Gary
To someone he'll marry.
Roses are red
And violets are blue,
I'm using my hand
But thinking of you.

The proposal

It's hearts and roses kisses and wine
The one day of the year it's Valentine
He loves her she loves him it really is divine
Their eyes with love they positively shine
Out comes the ring it sparkles it glitters it's so sublime
On blended knee he asks will you be mine.

Valentine Bert


I love my Bert
He is my valentine
We have been married for years
and he will always be mine.

He got awful habits
I really must admit
He pee in the shower,and in the pool and even picks his nose
And on my brand new carpet
he even clips his toes.

I ask him how his day was.
Even though he just don t care
He said,I used your brand new shaver
to cut my pubic hair.

Oh Bert i love you so.
I will never ever let you go.
You are my valentine.

Days Gone Bye


Whiskers on chin, and warts upon nose,
How can a Valentine love us with those ?
Once 'love' was the answer to all of our dreams;
No one would want us now, it seems.

The days have now gone when our hearts ached so much,
And the shivers and dithers from a glance or a touch
For the cobbler , the postie or the baker named john
Sad that it is , those days have all gone.

The lad in the playground kicking his ball,
Made me go gooey, he was slim and SO tall.
The crackling bones have lived through this curse,
We once held our hearts when we thought they would burst.

But they didn't

joyful, happy, relaxed i feel
as this love we have i know is for real
i walk around with a happy heart
because i know we will never part
you changed my life in such a way
i just want to be with you every day
so no need for a valentine my dear
as i love you every day of the year

Jealous Valentine

My oh my, a jealous valentine
I shouldn't make fun, just cause there not the one.

Perhaps there so sad and feel so so bad
I can't help but snigger, it makes me feel bigger
That iam the one and they count as none.

So poems and rhymes are just like old times
And I won the prize and left tears in there eyes


And so he will stay, never to betray
His love is so endless, they've reason to be envious

My oh my, a jealous valentine
