A Sunday Afternoon

There's a train that comes a chugging down the old Wirral line,
It should arrive at Thurstaston by half past nine ;
On it's way to Willaston, for a special little date
Hoot and toot and off it shoots, we hope it won't be late.

A pretty little village with buildings old a new,
And Hadlow Road station is the best that you could view;
What a treat if we could have a steam train once again,
There was some talk in 2012, but silence fell like rain.

To pass a Sunday afternoon along the Wirral way,
Bluebells in the fields and corncrakes in the hay;
What a thrill for all old men , (collectors of old things)
Tilly lamps and photgraphs, cabbages and kings.

It would be nice to see it back,
But sadly there's a hitch
No one is prepared to pay,
To turn back that old the switch.

Spots

The spotty face
stares back at me,
I count more than three.

No powder and makeup
could never hide
as they still pop out side by side.

Yet more appeared
in the middle of the night
Looked in the mirror and got a terrible fright.

all alone !!!

I sing all alone,
but it should be known,
I haven't a tune in my head.

What does it mean,
As I try not to dream,
That one day I might not be tone deaf.

My neighbours don't speak,
They just give me a look,
As they pass by outside my gate.

They bang on the wall
And shout out "no more",
I wonder what could be the matter.

They say iam thick skinned,
And you'll find I won't moan
And So I'll continue,
To sing all alone.

Snowshoes, these are written by other members. They send them to me to post and then everyone can vote for the best one. On Sunday . Once the voting is finished, then the name of the Wikiwirral Poet is released. Please join in and send me a poem of your own. Not a copied one.

Jabb, Gibb, Gook

Jabberish, Gibberish, Gobbeldygook.
You won,t find it in any old book.
It's here, it's there, it's everywhere you look.
It won't hide away in a dusty old nook.
It's nonsense, it's stupid I hear you all shout,
And I will agree without any doubt.
But then as I say the title is the hook,
It's jabberish, Gibberish, Gobbeldygook.

Seaghulls

Seagulls, living jets of the sky
Spend their days swooping and swirling
Dipping and curling
Whilst humans look on with a sigh.

The boats are coming in with their nets full of fish
The seagulls so watchful have also seen this
They swoop down to land on the soft yellow sand
And never a chance do they miss --
Of snatching a slippery, glittery, scaly fish.

Thinking of You

Here's a short verse,
I hope not perverse.
It's sent from our Gary
To someone he'll marry.
Roses are red
And violets are blue,
I'm using my hand
But thinking of you.

Unfortunately, I have to be impartial, non committal and at times speechless !

The proposal

It's hearts and roses kisses and wine
The one day of the year it's Valentine
He loves her she loves him it really is divine
Their eyes with love they positively shine
Out comes the ring it sparkles it glitters it's so sublime
On blended knee he asks will you be mine.

Valentine Bert

I love my Bert
He is my valentine
We have been married for years
and he will always be mine.

He got awful habits
I really must admit
He pee in the shower, and in the pool and even picks his nose
And on my brand new carpet
he even clips his toes.

I ask him how his day was.
Even though he just don t care
He said,I used your brand new shaver
to cut my pubic hair.

Oh Bert i love you so.
I will never ever let you go.
You are my valentine.
