Ah, I thought it might have been that it didnt come on at all, because that happened to a couple of freezers Ive heard about especially the frost free ones, and its a matter of turning off, leaving for a day or two and turning back on . Something to do with the ice getting bunged up somewhere inside. Might be worth a try anyway if you can use up the stuff first ,before dumping it or paying for repairs.

http://www.pennilessparenting.com/2010/12/diy-fridge-and-freezer-repair.htmlThere you go, this says much the same thing, but gives a better explanation as to why you would let it defrost. I didnt take mine apart, I just left it a couple of days to defrost it and wipe down with a view to binning it off, but when i switched it back on just to see, it worked perfectly.

Lets hope it is that. The other possibility is that it has lost some gas. Regassing is about £50. Finding the leak could be more expensive. Good luck!

Excellent!!!! Thanks for letting us know. Hopefully others in the same boat will feel encouraged to give it a go before calling an engineer out .
